Joseph Correll (1903-1972) • American Assemblage Artist • Worked as a textile designer to help support his mother and sick brother • Lived in New York City • Most famous works were boxes, created with wood, glass and objects/photos • Range of subjects vast (birds, astrology, movie stars, ballet, travel, among many others • Donated his money from his boxes to charity after he died in 1972
