Effects of Trichoderma asperellum and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on Dombeya

Armillaria root rot disease caused by Armillaria species is one the most widespread and important disease of many forest trees. An interaction between arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and Trichoderma asperellum have beneficial effects on plant growth as well as to the host plants and may affect plant resistance. The objective of this study was to determine the ability of T. asperellum to promote plant growth and reduce Armillaria root rot disease in green house condition. Armillaria species was isolated from a severely infected Dombeya torrida plant and cultured on malt extract agar.
