How to Care for Your Jeans

If your jeans are stretchy make sure you check the label to determine whether they're made of spandex (which is also commonly referred to as elastane or Lycra). It's usually possible to get away by throwing clothes with some spandex into the dryer but if you'd like to make sure you're being kind to your jeans, you should let them dry in the air. <br>

  2. How to Care for Your Jeans Be patient! Don't throw your favorite pair of jeans in the washer without thinking twice. In order for your jeans to last for a long time and look stunning, you must take care of them. It doesn't mean that you need be washing the thin denim using Polynesian spring water, or repair them using silk thread or an emerald needle, however. All you have to do is give them some basic care and they'll be looking brand new for a while. Jeans are casual wear pants that are typically constructed from denim fabric. They were invented in the 19th century United States by Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis, a typical pair of jeans usually has buttons with a belt loop, a zipper, and a back and front pocket and copper rivets to make the pockets stronger. www.inviya.com

  4. 1. Super Stretchy If your jeans are stretchy make sure you check the label to determine whether they're made of spandex (which is also commonly referred to as elastane or Lycra). It's usually possible to get away by throwing clothes with some spandex into the dryer but if you'd like to make sure you're being kind to your jeans, you should let them dry in the air. It protects fragile fibers from damage by heat and causes lesser wear and tear, which makes it a great option when you don't have jeans with any spandex in any way. www.inviya.com

  5. 2. Odor Control After a few times, blue jeans can begin to smell funky, however often, a trip to the washer isn't always the ideal solution. Jeans made of raw denim or embellished with appliques or strategically-placed rips need to be taken care of gently. Eliminate odors by hanging your jeans outdoors in a location with a circulation of air to freshen them. Also, you can kill bacteria that cause odor by putting your jeans in the refrigerator for a couple of days. www.inviya.com

  6. 3. Patch 'em Up Do your jeans tend to get worn out on the inner legs? If so, patch the patches with iron-on before they tear to prevent them from becoming damaged. Apply them to areas in which the material is thin and is prone to tear. You may extend their longevity by a few months, or even more. www.inviya.com

  7. 4. Dark Denim Keep your designer clothes with dark colors or denim shining by giving them extra attention. If you wash them using the washer set them in the cold water cycle, and use an appropriate detergent for dark-colored fabrics and avoid throwing in any lighter-colored clothing since they could cause fading (and maybe stained from bleeding dye). It is important to turn them inside out prior to washing also. You could also add one cup of vinegar to the machine prior to switching it on since it will help seal the dye and reduce the accumulation of detergents for laundry or fabric softener, and also the natural oils that your skin produces. www.inviya.com

  8. 5. Hemline Help There are several ways to wear too-long jeans. Certain styles look great worn cuffed. Try rolling up to see how they appear. If your skinny legs are tight at the ankle, fold them in the inside so that it appears as if they're just the right length, and nobody will be able to tell the secret. If you're not sure of what to do, flip your jeans inside- out and fold the hems until they're the length you want. Sew them in place using fabric tape bought from the craft store. If suggested in the directions to iron the tape in place. www.inviya.com
