Content Update: Dissertations I • German Dissertations: • 514946 Dissertations are in SciFinder (2/2013) • 39 022 come from Germany (7.6%) • Wehave a gap in the data from Mid 2010 • We moved to the Nationalbibliothek in Frankfurt for collecting the dissertations, the process is established now • We include new Dissertations from former years + the gap is worked on
Content Update: Dissertations IV – old old Dissertation (MEIND Data, old links)
Content Update: Dissertations V - Reactions • Data from SORD is added to CASREACT/ SciFinder (SORD = Selected Organic Reaction Database) • Start set ~ 900 Dissertations (1961-2009) 12/2012 • German Dissertations of those = 105
Content update: Additions to Medline Records I • To help you find the biomedical information relevant to your research, MEDLINE records in SciFinder now include 2013 vocabulary enhancements from the National Library of Medicine, including: • New terms • (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/newd.html) • Changed terms (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/prefterm_change.html) • Deleted terms (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/deleted.html) • Link no longer valid 02/2013 (01.2013)
Content update: Additions to Medline Records II Bioprinting is one of the new terms
Content update: Pictures of the first page I • Pictures of the first page of the article for: • ACS Journals starting 2005 • List of ACS journals in SciFinder (CAS Section): • And 15 more • And 17 more • And 9 more And 16 more
Content update: Pictures of the first page II • EP patents front page pictures ~ 14 000 started 15 of February 2013
Content update: Pictures of the first page III • PCT patents front page pictures ~ 44 000 started in 2011 • US patents front page pictures ~ 107 000 started in 2011
Content update: Experimental Procedures I • Experimental Procedures in CASREACT: • ACS Journals (2000-) • Taylor & Francis journals (1998- ) • Patents in English (US, GB, WIPO, 2008-) • Patents in German (EPO, WIPO 2008-) • Patents in Japanese (Kokai, WIPO, 2008-) • Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry journals Current number ~ 4 Mio 64% from Patents 36% from Journal Articles
Helpful but silent: Functionality I • Return to your previous answer “ your place in the list” • You look into a reference in detail and you go back to your list being at the same reference you checked • Does work for substances and reactions too • Share SciPlanner Plans
Helpful but silent: Content I • Supporting the Topic search with thousands of life science terms throughout 2013 • Indexing of all stereoisomers with accompanying data • in the past the past, indexing of the major stereoisomer. • A minor isomer without data may be indexed as well if the author emphasizes that substance. • Coordination compound indexing only includes the author’s preferred isomer. • DOI in SciFinder > 12 Mio
Helpful and “noisy”Group reactions by transformation Group I • Reaction Transformation Groups> 570 • New groups will be added as needed • single-step reactions are automatically matched • multi-steps are not classified • Reactions that fail to classify will be manually classified • The following reactions cannot be classified: • Reactions with in-situ generated reactants (e.g. Grignard Reactions) • Reactions where intermediates are not captured • Reactions where a reaction participant is not clearly described • Rearrangement reactions
Helpful and “noisy”Group reactions by transformation Group II
Helpful and “noisy”Group reactions by transformation Group III
Tips and Tricks I: search Polymer Reactions in CASREACT I • More comprehensive coverage began in 2008 • Reaction coverage: • initial polymerization • post-treatment of polymers • Reactions can contain: • monomer based registrations • SRU
Tips and Tricks I: search Polymer Reactions in CASREACT II Polymerization of Isoprene as product
Tips and Tricks I: search Polymer Reactions in CASREACT III Polymerization of Isoprene and Ethylene as reactants
Tipps and Tricks I: search Polymer Reactions in CASREACT IV • Searching for the SRU – structure has to be precise
Tipps and Tricks I: search Polymer Reactions in CASREACT V • Searching for the SRU – structure has to be precise
Tips and Tricks II: Think about Bio- and Target Indicators I • assigned to patents and scientific literature • Bioactivity Indicators > 400 //Target Indicators > 9000 • Focus: BioindicatorNatural Products • Natural products, MD Pharmaceutical – the indication in Registry that a substance is a natural product • Please remember to complement the search with a categorize or a refine focus on “secondary” and “natural” • that this is medically active and/or a natural compound. Last fall I introduced to them the Bioactivity indicator for “natural compound” in Registry with a volatile substance (4630-07-3)
Tips and Tricks II: Think about Bio- and Target Indicators II
Tips and Tricks II: Think about Bio- and Target Indicators III
Tips and Tricks II: Think about Bio- and Target Indicators IV • As well Polymer SRUs can have bio indicators when they are used in the preparation of formulations for various treatments
