DEFINITION • Domestic violence (emotional, physical and sexual) is a public health problem globally.Dating violence, also called "partner abuse" or "wife abuse" is a facet of the global problem of domestic violence. The partner violence exists in all societies, and affects women regardless of their socioeconomic status, education, or age. In most cases, domestic violence is directed against women by men (1). Violence, whether against women or other family members, it affects every member of it.
CAUSES • One of the main causes of violence is impunity, followed by the denial or delay in the administration of justice.Alcoholism: a number of case records that a large percentage of women who are abused by their marital partners are under the influence of alcohol.Lack of awareness among the inhabitants of a company believe that this is the best way of doing things: strikes, shootings, beatings, etc..Strong ignorance of not knowing that there are better way to solve things: they know that the best way to solve a social phenomena is talking and analyzing what causes it and then try to fix it.
CONSEQUENCES • Violence against women and girls increases their risk of ill health, the true measure of the consequences is difficult to assess, however, because medical records generally lack vital details about the violent causes of injury or poor health.The consequences of violence against women may not be fatal and take the form of physical injury from minor cuts and bruises (bumps, bruises) to chronic disability or mental health problems. They can also be fatal, either by murder, by die as result in permanent injury or AIDS, or due to suicide, used as a last resort to escape the violence.
Data and figures • * The violence against the woman, be couple violence or sexual violence, it constitutes an important problem of public health and a violation of the human rights. • * In a study carried out by the OMS in several countries, between 15% and 71% of the women they referred to have suffered in some moment physical or sexual violence on the part of their couple. • * These forms of violence produce problems of physical, mental, sexual, reproductive health and of another nature, and they can increase the vulnerability to the infection for the HIV.

* Among the factors of risk of perpetrating these acts of violence are the first floor educational level, the exhibition to the abuse in the childhood or to acts of violence among the parents, the noxious consumption of alcohol, the attitudes of acceptance of the violence and the gender inequality. Most of they are also factors of risk of being victim of couple violence or of sexual violence. • * The school programs of prevention of the violent relationships among the youths («violence in the courtship») they are those that have better tests of their effectiveness. They are also promising other strategies of primary prevention, as the microfinanciación combined with the formation as regards gender equality or the community initiatives directed against the gender inequality or to improve the communication and the aptitudes for the interpersonal relationships. • * The conflict situations and displacement can exacerbate the violence and to generate new forms of violence against the woman.
CONCLUSIONS • Sexual violence as the various forms of aggression are caused by the low level of education, poverty, behavioural problems and above all problems of self-esteem. It can be noted as patron of these forms of conduct that are created by the norms of coexistence in which dictates the supremacy of men over women.
RECOMMENDATIONS • Sexual violence against women is perhaps the most shameful human rights violation. It knows no boundaries, geographical, cultural or wealth. While it continues, we can not say that we have really progressed towards equality, development and peace. We as a society have to do stemming from the Convention for the Elimination of all forms of discrimination against women, discrimination on grounds of gender viola the principles of equality of rights and respect for human dignity.
