  1. Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory by: Courtney, Emily, Ryan, and Kelly

  2. Contributions ~ Created the social learning theory which is where people copy behaviors that they see other people doing - these things can be actions, behaviors, or words ~ The research and experiments he conducted changed the way instructors taught.

  3. BoBo Doll Experiment Has anyone ever heard of the BoBo Doll experiment and can tell us what they know about it?

  4. ~ In 1961 Bandura made the BoBo Doll experiment to prove his theory. Children watched adults hit a doll and afterwards the children were allowed to do what they pleased to the doll.   5. 3 Main Characteristics 1) People can learn through observation A) Observational learning 2) Mental states are important for instruction. B) Intrinsic reinforcement 3) Learning does not necessarily lead to a change in behavior. C) The modeling process

Pros and Cons Pros: - indirect learning; don't have to say "do this" - multiple ways to learn (kinesthetic, verbal, observationally) Cons: - children could copy bad behavior too, such as hearing their parents curse and repeating or watching violent movies and thinking those actions are acceptable

  7. Technology Integration - SmartBoard, Promethean Board, laptops, or desktops - Teachers model use of technology - Goal is students mimic what they see and learn how to use it in a social setting - Targeted grade level: 3rd to college

  8. Which shows social learning? Child throws toy even though he has never seen someone do that before Child curses after hearing his big brother curse Child says "thank you" after being served food since seeing his mother do the same gesture Child throws a tantrum
