What she does • New Zealand's top Olympic hope Valerie Adams has reminder, again, of why she's the best female shot putter on the planet. She is 27 years old born on the 16thOctober 1984. GOOD FOR GOLD: If Valerie Adams doesn't drop the shot put on her toes she will win the best NZ shot put women.
Interesting knowledge • Valerie met her coach in 1998 who was Kirsten Hellier. Kirsten was her coach for 11 years. • Valerie tried to be the top shot put in 2001 and in 2002 Adams became the world junior champion and got a silver medal at the commonwealth games. Her first Olympic was in 2004 at the age of 19 coming 8 because she had a big operation. The following year Valerie came 3nd.
