  3. PhD • Traditional Doctorate • Mode 1 and Mode 2 • Research focus • Mixed mode + comprehensive exam • PhD thesis to contain an original contribution to knowledge or understanding. • Mainly for Academics

  4. DBA • Professional Doctorate • 2 format • Course work, research • Course work, consultancy, research • Research is more applied to practical environment rather than just contribution to new body of knowledge

  5. DBA IN MALAYSIA

  6. REQUIREMENTS • PhD • Need masters degree or professional degree - regardless of field • Any interested individual is eligible to enroll (CGPA is not a condition) • Has prepared research proposal • Need research capability

  7. DBA • Business Administration qualified (either at Bachelors degree or masters) or higher level managers with at least 5 years experience. • Must be at least 2.75 CGPA at bachelors level • Must passed the interview. • Need writing and presentation capability

  8. Why DBA? • More knowledge gain – from seminars, argument and written concept. • In depth theoretical foundation on all business discipline • Inter-disciplinary research development • Presentation skill improvement • Consultation and training exposure • Applied and viable research not just theoretical perspective.

Prestigious in itself • A guarantee of respect for all our opinions • A goal in itself • A job guarantee • A practical way to impress our family or friends • Something we can ``try'' to find out how smart we are • The only research topic we will ever pursue • Better than the alternatives • A way to make more money

  11. ROUTE TO PhD • “Doing PhD is a lonely journey”?... • Need huge MOTIVATION for success….. • Interested in the courses and program… • need to set their goal and personal reward, both intrinsic and extrinsic. • BE MODEST AND HUMBLE
