  3. Page - 1 Safety Track ST-HOS Data Terminal The ST-HOS Mobile Data Terminal is a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 device with an LCD screen which is used to run the HOS Electronic Driver Logs application. All required cables are furnished with the device. For optimum performance the device should be hardwired using the poke & wrap technique. This ensures all connections are solid and uninterrupted. Insert SD Card here for firmware upgrades. On/Off power button is here. SmartAntenna connects here. Hardwired power cable connects here. Insert USB memory stick here and export data for review by inspector. ● The On/Off Power Button is located on the lower left hand side of the terminal. (after powering on, the screen will appear in 40 seconds) ● The power cable connects at the DC IN connection on the lower left as well. ● The RS-232 (DB9 Connector) is on the right side. The SmartAntenna connects here. ● The SD Card slot is on the upper right side. This is for importing firmware upgrades. ● The USBport (exporting data) is on the right hand side of the device. ● The device is anchored to the mount by a removable back plate. ● All devices are equipped with a stylus located at the bottom right hand side of the unit. ● All devices are equipped with power cable and SmartAntenna connector cable.

  4. Page - 2 ST-HOS Electronic Driver Log System - Summary • In order to log into the Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) for the very first time a driver must tap the “New Driver” title in the list then tap “Login”. Then the driver must first enter his/her “Driver ID” assigned to him though the system using the keypad that appears. • The driver will then be asked to enter his/her password. All subsequent logins by that driver will only require that the password be entered after tapping the login button. • If a driver has already logged into the terminal at least 1x, and has completed the afore mentioned process, that driver will only be required to tap his/her name in the list , then press login, then enter the password. If the name /password matches the user will be granted access to the terminal. • The driver will then be logged into the system as “On Duty” and will have the option of logging off again or going into “Off Duty” status or “Sleeper” status. Once the vehicle begins to move the assigned driver will automatically be placed in “Driving” mode. (This is done in the Home screen) • A driver may send and receive messages on the terminal. (Tap the mail icons shown below to see In and Outgoing messages) • A route of stops may also be sent to the driver. If navigation is purchased then truck – based, voice guided, turn-by-turn directions, with a detailed map view will appear on the screen. (Tap the Jobs/Routes icon shown below) • Driver log detailing a driver’s duty status as mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is viewable for the current driver/co-driver. (Tap the Driver Logsicon shown below) • Enter Toll and Fuel expense activity by tapping the Tolls & Fuel icon shown below. • The screen will go into “Sleep” mode in 3 minutes if not used by the driver. To wakeup simply tap the lower right hand corner of the screen in a 1 sq. in. area. • A driver should not turn off the MDT power until logging out. • Log entry errors may be edited in the back-end application. 5. Page - 3 Logging in to the System - Existing drivers in the system will be displayed in the “Driver Name” list. To login to the system a driver must tap his/her name on the list and then tap the Log In button on the screen. The screen will then display a keypad to enter the driver’s password. (see below) New drivers who have never logged into the system using the Mobile Data Terminal must first do so by tapping the “New Driver” title then Log In. The driver must then enter his/her Driver ID on the keypad that appears. This number is also displayed in the Perigee Driver Module. This keypad will appear after a driver name or new driver title has been selected. If a driver logs in for the first time ever then he/she must first enter the Driver ID here (not the Driver PIN) and then tap the “OK” button. Existing drivers who have already logged into the system at least 1x will simply enter their password here (after tapping their name then “Log In”) and then click “OK”. PLEASE REMEMBER TO OBSERVE ALL LOCAL & FEDERAL LAWS REGARDING THE ENTRY OF TEXT WHILE OPERATING A VEHICLE

  6. Page - 4 Home Screen - To log On or Off Duty tap either of these buttons Confirm Network/GPS Coverage Confirmation See Driver/CoDriver Statuses & Addresses See Driver/CoDriver work status compliance Switch from Driver to CoDriver here DOT required carrier info is found here When vehicle begins to move the “On Duty” driver will automatically be placed in ‘Driving” status. If the vehicle begins to move without any driver logging in a warning badge* will appear stating that the vehicle is operating in violation of the DOT rules. Important Note If the vehicle has stopped moving and is idling the system will detect this status and will display a badge (similar to the one shown here) asking if the driver is still driving. The driver will simply tap “Yes” if still driving and only momentarily stopped. If the driver has stopped driving he/she will tap “No” and then enter the current status of “On Duty”, “Off Duty” or “Sleeper”. If a driver stops and turns off the ignition the MDT will display a badge asking if the driver is still on duty. If the driver does not confirm then the system will place the driver “On Duty” by default. *This badge will appear whenever a driver is in violation of the HOS rules. The violation type will be described in red.

  7. Page - 5 In Box - Any messages you receive will be displayed here. To read a message simply tap the name in the “To” column and then click the “read” button. The message will then appear as shown below. To create a new message click “New” then use the keyboard shown in the next panel to compose and send your message. To delete any listed messages simply tap the message then click “Delete”. Here is an example of an opened message that has been received in the In Box. The Reltima message system gives a user the ability to send regular messages or canned messages (as shown here) that may be paired with specific answers. A message with a ‘Read” receipt may also be sent which will then give confirmation, in the application, that the message was opened.

  8. Page - 6 Sending a Message - After tapping “New” in the In/Out Box screen you will see the message builder keyboard appear. Type your message and then click “Send”. PLEASE REMEMBER TO OBSERVE ALL LOCAL & FEDERAL LAWS REGARDING THE ENTRY OF TEXT WHILE OPERATING A VEHICLE

  9. Page - 7 Out Box - In the Out Box you will see a list of the messages you have sent. To review a sent message tap on the name displayed in the “From” column. This will allow the message to be reviewed in its expanded form. (as shown below) To send the message back to the master list tap the OK button.

  10. Page - 8 Jobs/Routes - In the Jobs/Routes screen you will find the listed stops that have been dispatched to the vehicle by way of the Perigee Routing Module. In this module, for each stop, you have multiple entry options to enable data transmission to the application which will inform the back-end user/dispatcher of any progress though the route. These designations are – ● Stop Received ● Stop Accepted ● Enroute ● Arrived ● Completed ● Departed The route designations Received, Enroute, Arrived & Departed are designations that occur without any driver interaction and are generated solely by the activity of the vehicle and the subsequent location data calculated by the SmartAntenna. Stop Accepted and Completed are driver generated and will only transmit to the application after the driver has manually acknowledged these event occurrences. Please see the next page for examples of some of the designations as they look in their expanded view.

  11. Page - 9 Jobs/Routes - Continued When the route list appears on the screen you can then tap the stop in the list and this screen will be displayed. You may then Accept or Reject the stop by tapping it. When a driver taps Accept he/she will automatically be placed in Enroute mode. The following screen will then be displayed. Once a vehicle has arrived at a stop (the device will sense this) the Start Work button will appear. The driver may tap this button to signify that he has begun the process of off-loading or delivering any cargo specified for that stop. When finished the driver may tap the Stop Work button to signify completion of the job. The driver will see a Completed designation. When a driver taps Cancel this keyboard will appear so cancellation details may be entered. Type the reason for the stop cancellation and tap OK.

  12. Page - 10 Jobs/Routes - When a driver departs a route stop but does not manually acknowledge that he/she is finished this is what will be displayed on the terminal. PLEASE REMEMBER TO OBSERVE ALL LOCAL & FEDERAL LAWS REGARDING THE ENTRY OF TEXT WHILE OPERATING A VEHICLE

  13. Page - 11 Driver Logs - Driver Log is shown here Scroll back and forth using the arrows. (You may see the prior 7 days of activity as required by the DOT) Use the scroll bar to read the full status entry. To export log file to USB for review by inspector simply attach USB memory stick and tap Export. This is the driver log as seen on the terminal. Although not shown here the respective status times will be displayed in each status row on the right hand side of the log. Please note that any log status displayed at the time the terminal is shut off will continue on in the application. This may cause a violation of the regulations. For example – if a driver parks the truck and has not logged off and is still in driving mode and then shuts the power to the device off that driving status will continue until the terminal is powered on again and a new login has occurred. Drivers should always remember to log off before turning off the Mobile Data Terminal.

  14. Page - 12 Tolls/Fuel - When entering a toll road tap the Tolls/Fuel icon then tap Entering Toll Road. This will change to Exiting Toll Road which may be tapped at that time. If the vehicle is stopped at a toll and you have made payment you may tap Passing Toll then enter the amount paid in the Paid Amount keypad shown here. When stopped at a fuel station a driver may enter the gallons pumped and the amount paid in the screen below. This will appear when the Fuel button is tapped. PLEASE REMEMBER TO OBSERVE ALL LOCAL & FEDERAL LAWS REGARDING THE ENTRY OF TEXT WHILE OPERATING A VEHICLE
