  3. Who should practice sportsmanship? • Teammates • Coaches • Parents • Officials • Referees

  4. Why should we practice Good Sportsmanship? • R.E.S.P.E.C.T • To appreciate achievements of other people

  5. Showing Respect Goes A Long Way

  6. FUN • Kids become more focused on winning that they forget to have fun

  7. PRIDE • Even if you do lose you can feel like a winner • No matter how hard you've practiced and played, it is, after all, just a game.

  8. Sportsmanship is the ability to: • Win without gloating • Lose without complaining
      • Treat your opponent with respect

  9. Bad Sportsmanship • Pouting, Crying, Swearing, Trash-talking • These don’t make you a good sport • There is always room for improvement

  10. Learn how to lose without losing your cool • Kids who are good sports — and don't freak out when they lose — will become known as kids who are fun to play with.

  12. Sportsmanship on and off the field… • is a style and an attitude • have a positive influence on everyone around you

  13. Sportsmanship Tips • Mistakes-Learn from it, and be ready to continue to play. • Offer encouragement, not criticism. • If you win, don't rub it in. • If you lose, NO EXCUSES.
