Introduction • Women are often portrayed with a sense of purity and innocence • The more of a role women have in an ad = to her dominance which sells the product to empowered women • Elle Magazine targets women who are at stages in their lives where they already feel enabled or in charge Thesis: The DSQAURED2 advertisement featured in the September edition of Elle Magazine, establishes a dominance of women through the portrayal of (in)vulnerability, and sexuality, choosing these common ideals to promote, encourage and endorse women.

Conclusion • Why do these themes help to appeal to the target audience? • How does this ad empower women, while also attracting them to purchase their fashion line? • Has the ad portrayed what the company is trying to sell through being memorable? • This ad tells a lot about how women can be powerful, without being overly seductive, or hyper-feminine.
