What is Orienteering? NATURE SPORT Orienteering is about choosing the ideal path among control points and running trough it as fast as possible, on an unknown course set in an unknown terrain using a specific map, only with the help of a compass.

Portugal O’ Meeting Alter do Chão – Crato - Portalegre 05 till 08 March Portugal’O’Meeting is a foot orienteering event, with four stages, 2 of middle distance and 2 of long distance. The event is included on the Portuguese National Cup organized by the Portuguese Orienteering Federation and the event held on the 7th will be counting to the World League of the Orieentering International Federation (IOF WRE)

Technical Information - Maps First Day: Typical Alentejo terrain with many rocky and vegetation details and a few paths. Fast runability with some vegetation. Map scale of 1/10.000 and 1/15.000, with contour distance of 5m.
Technical Information - Maps 2nd day: Herdade do Gamito / Couto da Arnela. Typical Alentejo terrain with high density of rocky and vegetation elements. Map scale of 1/10.000, with contour distance of 5m.
Technical Information - Maps 3rd and 4rd day: Herdade de Entre - Ribeiras Alentejo terrain with high density of rocky and vegetation elements. WRE World Ranking Event Map scale of 1/10.000 and 1/15.000, with contour distance of 5m.
Technical Information 39 Classes: Male – 13/15/17/20/M21 A-B-E, 35/40/45/50/55/60/65/70/75/80/85 Female – 13/15/17/20/W21 A-E, 35/40/45/50/55/60/65/70/75/80/85 Open Classes – OPT 1, OPT 2, OPT3, OPT4
Technical Information Courses: 20 – Different courses set each day 230 – Control Flags and Stations 36 km – Distance to run in the Male Elite Class always choosing best options.
Statistics Entries of runners: 2007 – 1500; 800 foreigners from 30 different countries. 2008 – 1300; 600 foreigners from 28 different countries. 2009 – 1650; 850 foreigners from 28 different countries. 2010 – 1850; 1225 foreigners from 32 different countries.
