Strategic Activities (1) • LTS (Long Term Strategy) • trying to: • identify the influences on ETSI's Direction and Focus • identify ICT trends and opportunities • set high level objectives for the next few years • identify the means to achieve these objectives • for approval at the ETSI General Assembly in November 2011 • "Consequences and implications" to be used as the basis for the ETSI Board "2012 Strategic activities".
Strategic Activities (2) • E2NA (Enhancing ETSI Network Activities) • looking at a re-structure of the fixed-network and NGN work programme in order to match the present industry environment. • this may result in a re-organization of the work under some of those Technical Committees impacted (e.g. TISPAN, MCD, CLOUD, M2M and ISG AFI) with it being consolidated into a new "Future Networking" TC.
Strategic Activities (3) • FOE (Funding of ETSI) • looking at how to resolve the issue of large companies joining via a small subsidiary and hence not paying a "fair" membership contribution ! • looking at mechanisms to assess membership contribution where the main business is outside the normal domain of ETSI (e.g. Car manufacturers, Health companies, etc). • .
Strategic Activities (4) • and, of course, not forgetting: • Green Agenda • Engagement with other sectors (e.g. Smart Grids, Intelligent Transport Systems, eHealth/MBAN – Medical Body Area Networks) • Evolution of the technology (e.g. M2M, Cloud, UICC) • Security (e.g. OCG/SEC, TISPAN, 3GPP, LI, etc.) • Interoperability (Plugtests) • better engagement towards the European Union • better involvement of SMEs
