RN - Effective, January 31, 2016, registered nurses will be required to submit documentation of continuing competency as a condition of licensure renewal. • LPN - Effective, March 31, 2017, registered nurses will be required to submit documentation of continuing competency as a condition of licensure renewal. GEORGIA NURSES ASSOCIATION LEGISLATIVE DAY was on March 5, 2014. The GASN Board registered and attended this event. Carol Darsey, GASN President and Melanie Bales, GASN Member, joined hundreds of nurses from across the state in educating legislators on what Nurses and School Nurses do every day and stood on the steps at the Capitol for a photo opportunity with our Governor Nathan Deal. Both ladies met with State Legislators to discuss more monies for school nurse funding. GASN
