“THINK LOCK” WHY • Incidents of burglary are increasing against a historic ten year reduction. • The reduction of burglary within Manchester is a top Council/Crime Reduction Partnership priority. • We need your help to support us in combating burglary.
“THINK LOCK” HOW • The campaign aims to provide simple and practical burglary prevention advice to at risk residents. • The advice will be visible (posters, signage, literature) to act as both a reminder to residents and a deterrent to criminals. • The campaign will run from now until March to match seasonal burglary trends.

Specific Interventions • 25,385 households lie within the hotspot areas, accounting for 28% of burglary incidents in the last year. • All households will receive a direct-mail piece highlighting prevention advice as well as a window sticker. • In the worst affected areas, 2,403 households will be visited by GMP Officers, and trained volunteers who will distribute the materials and offer face to face advice. • The remaining 22,982 houses will have the materials delivered by a third-party distribution company.
