The raffles hotel • Named after Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore. • It was declared a national monument in 1987.
Changi Chapel and Museum • Has unique and architecturally beautiful exterior surroundings. • Use to be called Changi Prison • It is the site of the World War 2 Prisoner of War Camp. • The museum is used worldwide for educational source of aspects of World War 2.
Civilian War Memorial • A monument that is dedicated to the civilians who perished during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore • It is the symbol for the shared war experiences of the Indians, Malays, Chinese, and other races. • Called the “chopsticks” memorial for its unusual design.
Johore Battery • A gun emplacement site that consists of a labyrinth of tunnels • Used to store ammunition
Kranji War Memorial • Here lies over 4,000 graves and 2,500 names of allied soldiers • Used to be a hospital burial ground during the Japanese Occupation period. • The road leading up to the memorial is the same road the Japanese Imperial Guards invaded and marched on in February 1942.
Fort Siloso • Built by the British to form the Singapore Fortress in World War 2 • Divided into three zones: • Red Zone: Shows how this part of the world was part of World War 2 • Blue Zone: A tunnel complex under Mount Siloso • Yellow Zone: Exhibits the life of the soldier at the fort
