Your Landlord MAY NOT • Refuse to let you make reasonable modifications to your dwelling or common use areas, at your expense, if necessary, for the disabled person to use the housing. • Refuse to make reasonable accommodations in rules, policies, practices or services if necessary for the disabled person to use the housing.

Who Qualifies? • Renters and Homeowners who have a permanent physical disability or have difficulty with daily living activities. • No Age restrictions • Frail Elderly are eligible
Types of Projects • Wheelchair ramps • Widening doorways
Types of Projects • Changes to bathroom including grab-bars and allowing for wheelchair access. • Non-skid flooring • Appliances that responds to voice commands • Lowered/Easy to reach kitchen adaptations

Types of Projects • Specialized thermostatic controls • Installation of smoke/Carbon monoxide/burglar alarms for the hearing impaired. • First floor bedroom/bathroom relocation • And many more….
What WRO Will Do • Pay for equipment • Pay for labor • Pay for permit • Pay for architectural drawing if necessary • May pay up to $25,000 per project

YES YOU CAN…. HELP TO MAKE FAIR HOUSING A REALITY FOR ALL! • Become a part-time fair housing tester. • Work throughout Westchester, Putnam and Rockland Counties. • Testers who wish to be paid receive $11.00 per hour plus travel expenses. • WRO provides comprehensive training for all testers.
