ABOUT GULBARGA - • Gulbarga, the largest city in north Karnataka is also the divisional headquarter. • In the olden days it was known as 'Kalburgi' which in Kannada means land of stones or heap of stones. Today there is a move to rename Gulbarga as Kalburgi. • Gulbarga was a district of Hyderabad Karnataka area and became a part of Karnataka State after re-organization of states. • CULTURE - • The people of this region have unique style of costume they foster the traditional dresses which symbolize their indianisation in exposing through the dresses. • Gulbarga district stands out for all cultural,national and regional festivals.People in the villages and the city dwellers celebrate the regional festivals with religious fervor and great gusto. • RIVER - • Krishna and Bhima rivers flow through this land. • FOOD HABITS - • People in the region mostly eat jowar roti, rice and dal.
