  1. Sumner County Dress Code Survey Results Surveys analyzed by Andrew Nelson, Salem Nippa, and Lauren Steele

  2. Procedure • Beech DECA was given the task of analyzing dress code surveys. • The surveys arrived within a two week time period. • After collaborating with assistant professor Mark Stein at John Hopkins university we decided to use a Google spreadsheet to enter the surveys. • Over a period of two and a half weeks 121 DECA members entered the surveys into a Google Spreadsheet. • We exported the data into Microsoft Excel and created formulas to analyze the statistics. • Due to incomplete data on surveys the margin of error is plus or minus .06%.

  3. Sumner County Average Response Conclusion: Out of 16,500 surveys with complete data the overall county average is 2.24.

County Statistics Conclusion: Parents totaling 91% of the respondents gave the dress code a rating of 2.23 Other representing 5% gave the dress code a rating of 1.73 Teachers representing 5% gave the dress code a rating of 2.51 Administrators representing .2% gave the dress code a rating of 2.59

  5. County Statistics Conclusion: Families who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch represent the 66% of respondents and have an average rating of 2.27. Families who qualify for free or reduced lunch represent 34% of the respondents, with an average rating of 2.06.

  6. County Statistics Conclusion: Females make up 77% of the respondents with an average rating of 2.19. Males make up the remaining 23% of respondents with an average rating of 2.14.

  7. County Statistics Conclusion: 47% of the respondents gave the dress code a rating of 1 12% gave the dress code a rating of 2 20% gave the dress code a rating of 311% gave the dress code a rating a rating of 410% gave the dress code a rating of 5

  8. Elementary, Middle, and High School Conclusion: Surveys from elementary schools make up 44% of respondents with an average rating of 2.14. Surveys from middle schools make up 26% of respondents with an average rating of 2.16. Surveys from high schools make up 30% of respondents with an average rating of 2.24.

  9. Sumner County Elementary Schools Conclusion: The average response for all elementary schools in Sumner County is 2.14, on a scale of 1-5.

  10. Sumner County Middle Schools Conclusion: The average response for all middle schools in Sumner County is 2.16, on a scale of 1-5.

  11. Sumner County High Schools Conclusion: The average response for all high schools in Sumner county is 2.24, on a scale of 1-5.

District Comparison Conclusion: 8% of the respondents were from the Beech District, with an average rating of 2.11. 20% of the respondents were from the Gallatin District, with an average rating of 2.10. 22% of the respondents were from the Hendersonville District, with an average rating of 2.36. 15% of the respondents were from the Portland District, with an average rating of 2.12. 20% of the respondents were from the Station Camp District, with an average rating of 2.22. 6% of the respondents were from the Westmoreland District, with an average rating of 1.88. 9% of the respondents were from the White House District, with an average rating of 2.03.
