Brantley County High School The purpose of a dress code is to promote an orderly learning environment at Brantley County High School for all students. Brantley County High School Students are expected to dress in a manner that is conducive to a good learning environment. The BCHS administration reserves the right to determine if items of clothing do not meet dress code policy.
Shorts, Dresses, Skirts • The length of shorts, dresses, and skirts must be no shorter than the top of the knee.

Physical Education / Weight Training • Gym Shorts and work-out shorts must meet dress code
Tights • Tights worn alone are unacceptable
Tights • Tights may be worn under clothing as long as the outside clothing meets dress code.
Holes in clothing • The highest point of visible skin shall clearly be no higher than the top of the knee. • Tights may not be worn under holes that are above the knee.
Tank tops, tube tops, halter tops and spaghetti straps are unacceptable.
Shirts/tops that reveal cleavage, are low cut,show midriff, or are backlessare unacceptable.
Unacceptable Clothing • Clothing that displays obscene words, pictures or designs • Clothing with a sexually suggestive, vulgar, demeaning or inflammatory remark • Clothing with a pro-alcohol message, a tobacco and or drug related message • Clothing that is symbolic of gangs or disruptive groups.
Inappropriate Headgear Scarves Bandanas Caps and Hats Hoods and Skull Caps
Hoodies • Hoodies are appropriate, but the hoods may not be worn indoors.
Sunglasses • Sunglasses may not be worn inside the building.
Consequences of breaking dress code • 1) Student calls home for parent to bring a change of clothes. • 2) If parent cannot bring clothes, student may borrow appropriate clothes from school. Student must return clothes at the end of the day. • 3) If student refuses to wear clothes offered by school, student will be placed in ISS for the remainder of the day
AUTHORITY OF THE PRINCIPAL • The principal is the designated leader of the school and, in concert with the staff, is responsible for the orderly operation of the school. In cases of disruptive, disorderly or dangerous conduct not covered in this Code, the principal may undertake corrective measures which he or she believes to be in the interest of the student and the school provided any such action does not violate school board policy or procedures. • ITEMS NOT SPECIFICALLY COVERED IN THE ABOVE POLICY MAY BE PROHIBITED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE ADMINISTRATION
