How Boy Scouting Delivers What Boys Want • Outdoor activities • Hiking, camping, snow-camping, biking, fishing, rock-climbing, white water rafting, canoeing, scuba diving, etc. • Challenges • For different ages and skill levels • Each event has a Scout-in-Charge (SIC) and an Adult-in-Charge (AIC) • Exploration and learning through earning merit badges • More than 120 to choose from

Why T453 – History and Background • Founded in Dec. 1998 by Chinese American Scouting Association (CASA) • 58 scouts as of April 2010 • 5 regular patrols (+ 1 new scout patrol for incoming new scouts) • Goal is to recruit 10 new scouts each year to keep the troop balanced and healthy • 6 Eagles graduated in 2009 • 4 Eagles graduated in 2010 (as of April, 2010) • Troop meeting (for scouts) is held 1st and 3rd Wed. each month, 7:30p, Miller Middle School • Committee meeting (for parents) is held 2nd Wed. each month, 7:30p, Miller Middle School • Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) is held 4th Wed. each month, 7:30p, Miller Middle School

Why T453 – Our Focus • Quality activities for scouts of all skill levels • Monthly campouts • X-miler (hiking or biking) • Summer camp • Leadership camps (Bristlecone, White Stag) • High adventures (Philmont, Northern Tier, Seabase) • Many events to provide ample opportunities for scouts to learn, explore, practice, and lead • Quality adult leadership • Our adult leaders are 100% trained • ~30 adult leaders in troop history received the most advanced boy scout leadership training (Wood Badge) • 23 Assistant Scout Masters (ASMs) currently A senior scout leads, guides, helps, and sets the example!

  17. Why T453 – Our Affiliation and Extended Families • Girl Scout T60288, founded by our parents in 2008 • Venture Crew 453, founded by siblings and senior scouts in 2009 • Cub Scout Pack 453, Den Chiefs help Pack activities. Pack helps Den Chiefs grow.

Why T453 – Our Commitment • The T453 Tradition • Dedicated adult leaders and strong family support • Evident in the following 2009 awards: • 20 Days and Nights Camping Award • District Round Table Perfect Attendance Award • District Round Table Outstanding Attendance Award (4.33 persons per meeting; highest in District)

Summary • Boy scouting provides the opportunities and environment for youths to develop, explore, learn, and lead through fun activities and challenges, under the guidance of Scout Law, Scout Oath, and Scout Motto • T453 aims at providing high-quality activities for scouts of all ages and skill levels • T453 has a strong tradition with quality adult leadership and strong family support
