Danish Island Weddings

We aim at the top end of the market - the couples who do not just want the marriage certificate from a quick registry office wedding, but want the best and most romantic experience possible. Many of our couples just elope or bring a a few friends but we also do much bigger events for weddings with up to 80 guests, at special locations. We rarely use the registry office and have our own wedding private wedding room in a historic buidling in the heart of the old town. We are the only agency with offices on Aeroe island and provide by far the best service - including flower specialists, beautician, hairdresser etc.<br>

She won the “Ærø Business of the Year” in 2008 and is on the board of the Ærø Tourism and Business Association. And she was awarded “Business person of the year 2015″ (South Denmark). She grew up in Ghana and Japan but always came home to Ærø for holidays. Her family goes back for generations on the island – her great grandfather was a renowned sea captain in the true Ærø tradition. Louise worked for Japan Airlines, and then had her own business in England. She lived in Vicenza, Berlin and Brussels before returning to her beloved island to set up Danish Island Weddings. Louise is bilingual English/Danish, and also speaks good German and some Japanese. Yuki, Louise’s younger sister, was born in Japan but grew up in England, USA, and Denmark. She has a degree in law and economics from Copenhagen Business School. She worked for Danish Island Weddings part time for several years whilst also working for a Copenhagen-based film company, before joining us full time in September 2013. She speaks perfect English and good German. She also sings professionally, and can be heard at venues in Ærøskoebing, as well as in Copenhagen and further afield. Louise Anna, Louise and Yuki’s older sister, runs our USA office from Chicago but visits Ærø as often as she can. She focuses on our US couples. She also worked for Japan Airlines, and had an early career on Japanese television! She speaks almost non-stop, mainly English, but also Danish and Japanese when she has the chance. John looks after the accounts, the website, and deals with any legal, residency or visa issues. He spent 29 years in the Royal Air Force, including tours in France, Italy, Germany and Belgium. He was the UK Air Attache in Berlin and a senior staff officer in NATO Yuki Headquarters. He and Louise married in Vicenza in 2000. He speaks good French, bad German, and comedy Danish. Mira is a professional beautician and hair-stylist and is available to do make up & hair for any of our brides, but is also talented with flowers, cakes, hygge, and all things artistic. She is also often on hand to help out as a witness, and is always ready to give any assistance required.

  2. Lone (mother to Louise, Anna and Yuki) helps with just about everything – not least by arranging the flowers in the Wedding Room and providing her beautiful beach house for beach weddings. She may be the only qualified Ikebana (Japanese Flower Arranger) teacher in Denmark. John and Louise Mira Kimmi divides here time between Ærø and Manchester, and is now our main photographer, with boundless energy (nickname “Tigger”), enthusiasm and creative drive. Camilla Jorvad is an outstanding wedding photographer and has been our creative partner since 2009. Voted among the top 3 wedding photographers in Scandinavia in both 2015 and 2016 she has commissions for weddings around Europe and even in the USA. But here on the island she still works exclusively for us. The feedback we receive about her is extraordinary – have a look at her own website.
