7. Interdependent Systems In interdependent systems we acknowledge that all spheres of our lives (SPIES) are connected and that a change in one area necessarily means change in the others. This is true for the web of relationships in which we live. • All domains of society (systems) interact to form a unified whole. • The goal of a healthy society is to find equilibrium within the systems that pursues loving relationships and the common good. • Healthy systems are characterised by a culture of justice/life; unhealthy systems are characterised by a culture of consumption/death.

8. Interdependent Systems In interdependent systems we acknowledge that all spheres of our lives (SPIES) are connected and that a change in one area necessarily means change in the others. This is true for the web of relationships in which we live.

Interdependent Systems • We can describe several systems: • Ecological: the natural world; • Ethical: codes of behaviour; • Physical: the material person/world; • Political: how communities organise & govern themselves; • Socio-economic: the relative wealth (social & financial) of people; • Theological: understanding God & our relationship with one another.

Interdependent Systems • In groups of 3, consider one of the case studies: • What is the impact on each of the systems? • Consider two possible outcomes for the situation and how each of the systems might be impacted? • Note your responses on chart-paper. • Prepare to share your responses with the class.
