Vision for High Performance Workforce North Carolina workers will adapt quickly and continuously to changing demands of the workplace through their abilities to use information, think analytically, work in teams, and use technology….Employers will recognize employees as an important asset and provide compensation and work environments that values workers.

Goals for High Performance Workforce • North Carolinians will have the knowledge and skills needed to adapt to the ever-changing economy including the abilities to think critically, work in teams, and perform technological functions required in the workplace. • North Carolinians will have a system designed for preparing workers for the changing economy that links government, education and employers.

Workforce Goals cont. • Employees will have access to continuous learning opportunities for updating knowledge and skills so they can use changing technologies and new production processes in the workplace and be competitive in the global economy. • Workplaces in North Carolina are safe places for employees to work, provide competitive salaries, offer growth opportunities and respect workers.

  20. Quality Education for All • North Carolina will have an education system where every child has an opportunity to succeed, where every graduate will be ready for work and where all citizens will have access to continuing education opportunities.

  21. Education Goals • North Carolinians will have a basic 14-year education, and graduates can demonstrate competencies in teamwork, communication skills, problem solving, use of numbers, data and technology. • North Carolina colleges and universities will prepare students for a knowledge-oriented economy and society, have current curricula and equipment, and have financial assistance for those who require it to secure post-high school education and training.

  22. Education Goals cont. • Primary, middle and high school students in North Carolina will have access to schools that create a learning environment in which every student can reach his or her potential.
