Participation • 2,157 participants started and completed part of the survey • 1,814 participants (84%) completed the entire survey
Land-Use and Zoning • Perception of current land-use • Single family and multiple unit housing • Mixed-use • Hotels and motels • Public space • Senior housing • Importance of attracting business and industry
Land-Use – Housing • Sufficient • Majority for single-family (72%), condos (53%), apt complexes (53%), and senior housing (52%) • Too much • Apt complexes (35%) and affordable housing (25%) • Need more • Senior housing (31%) “Maintain and increase senior activities and facilities.”
Land-Use – Commercial • Sufficient • Majority for office space, retail, mixed-use, and hotels/motels • Need more • Retail (38%) • Mixed-use (27%) • Hotels and motels (23%) “Town Center needs 2-3 more blocks of small retail to create and sustain any retail synergy necessary to make it a viable Town Center otherwise all you will have is a parade of failed small retail businesses.”
Availability of Specific Land “Keep as much open space as possible and if we can’t get back our beautiful golf course then use that space for a recreational complex.”
Transportation • Good to fair – Vast majority for all • Excellent – Silva Valley Parkway (13%), Sophia Parkway (19%), and Serrano Parkway (19%) • Poor • White Rock Road (22%), Green Valley Road (19%), Bass Lake Road (19%), Francisco Drive (17%) • Traveling by bicycle (27%) • Pedestrian travel (30%)
Recreation & Trails “Having a trail system connecting neighborhoods to open spaces, parks, and schools would add so much to this community.”
Recreation & Trails • Ranking for 1, 2, or 3 • Hiking/walking (87%) • Running (64%) • Routes to school (46%) • Mountain biking (38%) • Road biking (34%) “I would love to see more street lights in Governor’s Village and sidewalks for the safety of the kids, I really don´t mind to give a piece of land to be dedicated for the sole purpose of a sidewalk.”
Civic Amenity A community sports complex would be a good addition. “There is a high need for more recreational space. We need a larger sports complex to accommodate the active families of El Dorado Hills and promote exercise for our youth.”
Community ID/Heritage Importance of keeping the look and feel a mixture of… “We have lived in EDH since 1979. While growth and related issues have been a challenge, we love this community.”

Summary • High density housing is not favorable, but also do not want sprawl • Desire for more commercial in appropriate areas • Enjoy open space • Increase quality jobs and industry • Road improvements as new development goes in; be mindful of pedestrian and bike access • Support for pedestrian and bike trail system • Community sports complex!
