PREPARING FOR DIRECTLY FUNDED HIGHER EDUCATION CONTEXTUAL INFORMATION • Delivering Higher Education since 1993 • 2012-13 666 full-time equivalent students Year 1 full-time intake 312 students (1000 application) 60 directly funded student number control (SNC) places 206 franchise SNC places 46 AAB equivalent students • 20 Foundation Degrees • 7 Honours top-ups

  4. PREPARING FOR DIRECTLY FUNDED HIGHER EDUCATION • Determine programmes to be delivered with directly funded places • Weston College • 4 x Foundation Degrees and 1 x Honours top-up • Programme design and approval • If Awarding Body a University confirm validation service

PREPARING FOR DIRECTLY FUNDED HIGHER EDUCATION • Action plan: development of processes to support directly funded higher education • Bi-monthly meetings February to August: areas for consideration • UCAS Admissions • Assessment Regulations • HEIFES (Higher Education in Further Education Students Survey) and ILR Return to HEFCE • Student Registration and collection of Tuition Fees (Student Loans Company (SLC) • Recruitment to new programmes/marketing • National Student Survey (NSS) • Access to Learning Fund • National Scholarship Programme

PREPARING FOR DIRECTLY FUNDED HIGHER EDUCATION • UCAS • Application to become a member institution, up to 3 months to be processed • Training for college staff • Set up UCAS programme codes • Recruiting to target • Assessment Regulations • HEIFES and ILR Return • Identify a member of staff who will manage the process • Attend training delivered by HEFCE! • ILR return, second year of delivery, November

PREPARING FOR DIRECTLY FUNDED HIGHER EDUCATION • Student Registration and Collection of Tuition Fees • Student Loans Company Register programme/s Confirm student attendance for funding to flow to the student and the institution: 25% October, 25% February, 50% May • Determine information/data to collect at registration

PREPARING FOR DIRECTLY FUNDED HIGHER EDUCATION • Access to Learning Fund (ALF) • Students in financial hardship • Determine priority groups • Determine how ALF administered • National Scholarship Programme • Government scheme • Scholarship of £3,000 for eligible full time students • Institution provisional allocation • Ability to ‘opt out’ if tuition fee £6,000 or less • From 2014 onwards if tuition fee £6,000 or more, match fund
