“The Personal Ministry of the Spirit”The Spirit-Filled Life Series John 16:5-15
vv. 8-11 – the Spirit’s work in unbelievers. vv. 12-15 – the Spirit’s work in believers.
God is not looking for perfect people; He’s looking for people who are willing to believe in the atoning work provided for them in Christ.
The Spirit convicts of… Righteousness.
The central truth of salvation is that “no one is righteous” apart from Christ.
No amount of “good” could ever equate to what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross.
The Spirit convicts of… Judgment.
“The mind of man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9
God is never going to guide us or lead us in a way that is contrary to His truth.
Jesus is glorified… When believers look like Him.
“But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…” Galatians 5:22
Jesus is glorified… When believers look like Him. When believers lead others to Him.
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit…for even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.” 1 Corinthians 12
God intends for every Christian to be equipped and empowered to do extraordinary things to grow His kingdom.
The Holy Spirit equips and empowers us to serve the Lord and stand on His promises.
