  5. Career Pathways Approach A Career Pathway is designed to help you get on the proper academic track to a specific college program and later, a career. Many Career Pathways offer multiple entry and exit points for education and the workforce and it is important that you get to know your options now! All IRSC AHS students are required to select a Career Pathway and participate in academic preparation and career exploration according to their goals.

  8. Graduation Requirements 24 credits in designated subject areas Minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale Passing score on both the mathematics and communications portions of the FCAT or concordant scores on other measures acceptable by the state of Florida Two (2) residency credits at IRSC

  9. Florida Statewide Assessments • FCAT Retakes (Reading & Math) • Fall (Oct. 17 & 18) • Spring (TBA: April 9-20) • End of Course Exams • Algebra 1 (TBA: December 5-16) • Algebra 1, Geometry & Biology (TBA (April 30 –May 18) • e-Pat – Mandatory computer-based practice test

  10. Academic Preparation • AHS remediation in ABE/GED • Take CPT! • Not college ready? Take Success courses • Take Math for College Readiness • Take SLS1101 • Participate in Dual Enrollment

Academic Year/Term Dates Academic Year: August 23, 2011 – June 20, 2012* Fall 2011 (16 week courses): August 23, – December 12 Fall A 2011 (8 week courses): August 23 – October 13, 2011 (30 days) Fall B 2011 (8 week courses):October 17 – December 12, 2011 (30 days) Spring 2012 (16 week courses): January 5, - May 1, 2012 Spring A 2012 (8 week courses): January 5, - February 28, 2012 (30 days) Spring B 2012 (8 week courses):February 29 – May 1, 2012 (30 days) Summer 2012 (16 week courses): May 8 – August 7 Summer A 2012 (8 week courses):May 8 – June 20, 2012 (25 days) Summer B 2012 (8 week courses):June 25 – August 7, 2012 (25 days)

  14. Grading System A Excellent 90 – 100 4 quality points B Good 80 – 89 3 quality points C Fair 70 – 79 2 quality points D Poor 60 – 69 1 quality points F Failure 0 – 59 0 quality points I Incomplete W Withdrawn

  15. Books and Other Materials Purchase books and materials prior to the first day of class Available at the IRSC River Shop Some books available from other students, other sources Algebra II & Geometry books available on loan

Attendance Policy Arriving to class 15 minutes or more late = 1 absence Leaving class more than 15 minutes early = 1 absence Arriving to class less than 15 minutes late = Tardy Leaving class less than 15 minutes early = Tardy 3 tardies = 1 absence 5 absences will result in removal from current term academic class(es) Non-attendance the first week of class will result in removal from classes for the term.

  17. Retention Support • Mr. Dale Atkinson • Official Warning – students are flagged upon reaching 3 absences. • Notice of Program Removal – students are removed from academic class(es) upon reaching 5 absences. Other options: GED program, AHS online classes, AHS evening program

  19. Cell Phones, iPods, Other Devices “The use of cell phones is prohibited during class at IRSC. All cell phones must be set on silent or off during the class period. Any student who uses a cell phone to make or answer a call, or send and read text messages or emails, other than IRSC emergency messages during class time may be asked to leave and may be considered absent for that class. No student has the right to disturb the teaching and learning process. “ – Dr. H.S. Bynum
