  2. Chart the Parts Key Question What hidden shapes can you find in these shapes? Learning Goals Students will: • divide squares, rectangles, triangles, trapezoids, parallelograms, and rhombuses • Identify the smaller shapes into which these shapes can be divided

  3. Chart the Parts Materials • Scisssors • Glue Sticks • Paper Shapes (3-4 per student) • Recording Sheets (6 per group)

  4. Chart the Parts Each person in the group will choose a shape. You will need 4 copies of the shape you choose.

  5. Chart the Parts • Paste an uncut shape in the top left corner of the large white paper. • Fold one of the shapes in any direction – horizontally, vertically, diagonally. • Cut on the fold line to make two other shapes. • Paste the two new shapes under the first. Repeat with the other two shapes.

  6. Chart the Parts • What shapes were you able to find in the square? • The rectangle… • The triangle… • The rhombus… • The parallelogram… • The trapezoid….
