  1. September, 2014 Volume 100 Issue 1 I need your help in September in getting word to as many as possible about a Sunday Schedule change we have coming. Don’t you love change? I believe this change will help us enhance fellowship opportunities and bring new life to our Sunday School classes. The new schedule will essentially reverse the order of our breakfast and Sunday School. Starting September 7 classes will begin at 9:30 a.m. Then, we’ll have a fellowship and coffee time in the FLC for everyone at 10:15 a.m. Our children in KUC will be doing things a bit differently, but their start time will be same. Children will begin at 9:30 a.m. with their breakfast time (in the KUC area), then they will have their lesson time from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Then, children will just stay in place for their worship time, beginning at 11:00 a.m. like the adults. Thanks for your help with this! This new schedule will help us every week, but especially on Homecoming, September 21. On that day we plan Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., and the coffee and fellowship time at 10:15 a.m., as on other weeks. But that week we also plan a special Classic Worship Pre-glow service at 10:45 a.m.! If you recall our doing this on Easter, it was really marvelous! Our Choir and Orchestra brought the house down, and everyone loved singing the exciting music they led us in. I hope you and your family will plan to be there on September 21! Help us spread the word about Homecoming, too. It is a great time for you to bring friends and family. Contact long-time LCCers and let them know about this opportunity. After the 11:00 a.m. service that day we plan our traditional Homecoming meal in the FLC, and you won’t want to miss that! The church will be providing the meat that day, and we encourage you to bring your favorite dishes to go with it. In September I look forward to continuing our series of message on “Heroes and Zeroes.” It is a wonderful honor to serve alongside so many Heroes here at LCC! SERMON SERIES Wednesday Menu 9/3 Sub Sandwiches 9/10 Poppyseed Chicken 9/17 Spaghetti 9/24 Hamburgers & Hotdogs 10/1 Chicken Pot Pie 10/8 Roast Pork 10/15 Lasagna 10/22 BBQ Chicken Tenders 10/29 Vegetable Beef Soup • “Heroes and Zeroes” • September 7: “An Open Heart and an Open House” • September 14: “A Refresher” • September 21: ”Give It to Jesus” • September 28: “A Noteworthy Helper” “For I was hungry and you gave me food…  The King replied, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”  (Emphasis added Mathew 25:35) We have all seen the slides of empty shelves at the Lilburn Coop.  I am sure most of us mentally say, “Someone should do something.”  Consider this; you are someone to someone.  We are a wonderful giving family of believers.  We have built churches in Haiti and support missionaries around the world.  We respond to requests for help and conduct fundraisers that raise thousands of dollars.  To help the coop, large commitments are not necessary.  Simply add an item to your grocery list.  For less than the cost of a large coffee at Starbucks, we could help feed needy families in our own backyard.  Our average attendance is right at 300.  If every family brought in one food item per week, that would be well over 100 items in that basket.  The largest donation in recent memory is 85 items on August 17.  The average is about 20. The Lilburn Coop feeds more than 100 families every week, year around.  Each family receives several items appropriate to their family size and members’ ages.  To help with your shopping list, the Coop currently needs canned corn, other canned vegetables except green beans, canned evaporated milk, canned soup, sugar, flour and canned meat.  For less than $3.00 per week, we can go a long way toward alleviating the need in our own back yard.  Won’t you join me?
