  3. Unfortunately for Europeans, these spices did not grow anywhere in Europe. They were only found in Asian countries like China, Japan, and India (these countries were known together as "The Indies"). It was very difficult to get the spices from Asia to Europe. Spices had to be brought across thousands of miles of dangerous mountains and deserts by spice traders, with bandits waiting to rob the spice caravans. The alternative was to bring the spices by ship, but the sea voyage was also dangerous because of pirates and storms. Since it was so difficult to get spices from Asia to Europe, spices were very expensive. EUROPEAN EXPLORATION

  4. The next European to see this area was Jacques Cartier in 1536. He sailed on the St. Lawrence River and was interested in trading for furs with the Native Americans, as furs were very popular in Europe for making hats and coats.   EUROPEAN IMPACT

The balance to be covered by the U.S. in the assumption of French debts to U. S. citizens. This territory included 800,000 square miles of land. The purchase of the Louisiana territory came about as a result of concern to secure free navigation of the Mississippi River. President Jefferson sent Robert R. Livingston and James Monroe to negotiate with the government of the powerful Napoleon I for the sale of New Orleans. GROWTH OF AMERICA

  12. I think the specific fate of the very poor can become pretty unmoored from overall economic conditions, but certainly as a historical matter middle class incomes have risen the most at the same times America’s has had the most rapid economic growth—the 30 years after World War II and the late 1990s. You can construct some models in which this isn’t the case, but in practice the basic mechanisms for faster economic growth lead to rising middle class incomes, though not necessarily rising incomes for each individual middle class household. More growth of America

  13. The Civil War lasted from 1861 to 1865 and led to over 618,000 casualties. Its causes can be traced back to tensions that formed early in the nation's history. Following are the top five causes that led to the "War Between the States." The civil war

  14. F or most blacks, emancipation and the end of the Civil War meant a renewal of hope: of economic opportunity, social mobility, and political expectations.  Institutions like Tuskegee, Hampton, and Howard University were at the center of a debate over what kind of training, education, and preparation African Americans needed to make their way in the world. Booker T. Washington became the spokesman for those who believed that industrial education skills training and vocational--education was the best way for blacks to achieve economic development. All women students at Tuskegee, for example, were taught domestic skills such as cooking, nursing, housekeeping and laundering. After the civil war

  15. The causes of WORLD WAR I, which began in central Europe in late June 1914, included intertwined factors, such as the conflicts and hostility of the four decades leading up to the war. MILITARISM, ALLIANCES, IMPERALISM, and NATIONALISM played major roles in the conflict as well. However, the immediate origins of the war lay in the decisions taken by statesmen and generals during the CRISIS of 1914, CASUS BELLI for which was the ASSASSINATION OF ARCHDUKE FRANZ FERDINAND OF AUSTRIA AND HIS WIFE BY GAVRILO PRINCIP, an IRREDENTIST SERB.
