Hearing Request Notice UW Madison Academic Misconduct Process START Faculty/TA suspects Student of academic misconduct Accepts penalty Case closed, academic dean notified Faculty notifies Student by letter Faculty determines misconduct did occur, and selects penalty from Group A, B, or C. Faculty sends a written finding to Student, and ODOS (Groups B & C only). Faculty/TA and Student present their cases to Hearing Panel. Faculty meets w/Student to review allegation. Accused given opportunity to respond to allegation. YES Records finding letter in student file, and Notifies student of their right to a Hearing SAJA Finding NO May increase penalty if student has prior academic misconduct. Student notified by letter. Faculty determines misconduct did not occur, Case closed, no record. Hearing Panel decision Finding Accepts penalty Case closed, academic dean notified Case closed, academic dean notified Student Disagrees with SAJA finding, emails SAJA to Request Hearing: ygarza@odos.wisc.edu Hearing Panel decision SAJA schedules and staffs Hearing.
