  1. Standards and interoperability – Do they matter for ETPs?  If so, how far can we/should we go? Panel discussion Dr. Roman Kužnar

  2. Relations between ETP and SDOs

  3. Strengthening connections between ETSs and SDOs….

  4. Example: ETSI and Sintesio* initiatives for NGN interoperability testing infrastructure IMS enablers * 1st ETSI-endorsed interop test site for NGN technologies.

  5. Facilitating exchange of knowledge & expertise bw. ETPs and SDOs • “Marie-Curie R&D mobility program” that will: • facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences bw. Research Inst., SDOs and Industry partners • enable more efficient use of resources (e.g. standardization experts, …) • facilitate the use of standardized test methods. & industry practice at research inst. providing quality feedback to SDOs.

  6. Summary • Key issues in ETP/SDO relationship: • Early detection and forward of standardizations scope; • Early availability of open (even draft) specifications in the development phase; • Providing interoperability of new ETP deliverables with existing technologies and deliverables from other initiatives; • Providing ETP’s quality feedback about the validation/use of open specifications; • Proposals to address these issues: • Set-up of flexible, open, vendor-neutral networked testbed infrastructure for experimentation, prototyping, standard validation for complex ICT technologies (e.g. NGN/IMS); • Facilitating the RTD human resources mobility enabling more efficient utilization of RTD resources for production of open standards; • Actions taken: • ETSI and SINTESIO initiatives to setup interoperability testing infrastructure for IMS and NGN technologies (partnership program with ntw. operators, NGN equip. vendors, test equip.vendors, research institutions and SDos).
