  2. The Library of Catalonia (I) It was founded in 1907 by Enric Prat de la Riba 3.000.000 documents Annual growing of 120.000 documents 230 reading places in 3.000 m2 Budget 2007: 11’5 M€ 174 employees + 65 km of shelving 2008  high density cooperative stacks

The Library of Catalonia (II) Mission • To collect, preserve and make available the Catalan bibliograpic production and the related to the Catalan language. • To watch over the bibliographic heritage preservation and divulging. • Keeping up the condition of a consultation and universal scientific research center in every field of knowledge.

  19. What we want for 2008-2009 • To design and build a system to manage digital copies from the point of view of preservation and service: • checking the integrity of files • reviewing the compatibility with new versions of the software • providing copies on demand • improve metadata
