  2. Benefits of a Wiki • Provides a collaborative space for the sharing of files, pictures, videos documents • Allows members to blog and comment on uploaded data • Can be accessed anywhere at anytime • Can be controlled (who sees your information and what editing capabilities they are allowed)

To create a WIKI-wikispaces.com • Create an email address using Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail • Go to www.wikispaces.com/ • Sign up for a new account using your email address and entering the relevant personal information(username, password) • Click-Get Started • This takes you to your wiki home/welcome page

  5. To create a WIKI-wikispaces.com On the home/welcome page • Confirm e-mail address • Name your WIKI(Choose a suitable name) • Set WIKI permissions (who has access to view and or edit your WIKI) • Specify WIKI type • Scroll to the bottom of the page • Click CREATE

  6. To edit a WIKI page • Click on the page you wish to edit • Click the EDIT button at the top of the page • An editor toolbar will pop up on the top • Use this toolbar to –Write, Format, Add Links, Embed widgets(videos, pictures), Upload Images, documents etc

  7. Personalize your wiki(customize the look)-1 • On the home/welcome page • Click Edit • Delete default text • Type your own welcome • Highlight text of the first line-Choose Heading size in the toolbar to create header

Personalize your wiki(customize the look)-2 • Click on Manage wiki (on the left column) to adjust your background, layout and template • Scroll down to SETTINGS • Select-Look and Feel options(Choose one) • Click on Theme-upload • Return to Look and Feel page(top right) • Add Logo-Click Browse(Computer)-Select File-Click on it, Click Open, Click SAVE • Select COLOUR-Click on it, Click SAVE

UPLOAD IMAGES & FILES/DOCUMENTS • Click EDIT • Place cursor where you want it to appear • Click Insert Images & Files Tool (on Toolbar) • Click upload button • Choose file/image - highlight • Click SELECT-Files are uploaded to the WIKI • Double click on image to add to page • Click on image • Scroll down-Click on SIZE(to reduce or enlarge) • Click SAVE(at top)

  10. UPLOAD FILES/DOCUMENTS(spreadsheets) • Click EDIT • Place cursor where you want document to appear • Go to Insert Images and Files Tool on the Toolbar • Insert Files • Click on Document • Add to Page • Click SAVE (at top)

To embed a WIDGET(poster) to a WIKI page • Copy the code for the relevant poster you wish to embed • On the Wiki, click EDIT • Place the cursor where you want the widget • Click on Embed WIDGET Tool on the Toolbar • Choose the WIDGET( Poster) • Paste the code for the poster in the box below • Click SAVE • Increase/Decrease Size or Center • Click SAVE

To embed a WIDGET(Video) to a WIKI page-1 • Click EDIT • Place cursor where you want the Video to go • Click on EMBED WIDGET Tool on the Toolbar • Choose WIDGET-Click Video • Click U Tube and follow instructions: • Go to the Video on YOU Tube.com • Look for Embed on the Video Page • Copy text from Embed box into the box below • Click Preview or Click SAVE

  13. To embed a WIDGET(Video) to a WIKI page-2 • Copy Code • Click top left of toolbar to return to WIKI page • Paste Code in the box below • Click SAVE • Adjust SIZE (Increase/decrease) • Center • Click SAVE

  14. TO CREATE A VOKI-talking avatar voki.com • Click create • Click- face, clothes, accessories • Type in what you want it to say • Save • Publish • Add to your site-(small picture)

  15. To add a VOKI-to a WIKI Page-1 • On the WIKI Page • Click Edit • Select WIDGET-Click on it. The box opens • On the side MENU-select video • Scroll to the bottom of the page • At the bottom select OTHER • Select Embed in Standard Web Page • Select Small size--voki • Click Get Code • Copy Code • Paste code on WIKI Page • Click SAVE-SAVE

  16. To add a VOKI-to a WIKI Page=2 • Voki is ready for playing • Click play button • Open (enable editing)

  17. TO UPLOAD ON A WIKI PAGE • Click on organiser • Click Edit • Click Page • Click Create a Page • Name the page • Click Save • Choose-Blank Page • Edit • Add Links

STEPS FOR UPLOADING GROUP LESSON/PLAN TO MOE WIKI • Log on to WIKI Classroom • Scroll down to Day 3 • Click on Group Lesson • Click on EDIT • Scroll down to the last posted Lesson Plans Wiki Links • Type an appropriate heading to begin a new group • Type your Wiki URL under the heading • Click SAVE • Click on Links to make sure they take you to the specific WIKI • N.N.N.B.-Write down & remember your username & password for your WIKI & BLOG
