  1. The Trade Council of Denmark Demonstration Project in Waste Water Treatment Delhi Jal Board, India Is Water Business Export Business? DHI, 14 October 2011 Peter Sand

  2. Indian-Danish Water Days February 2009 • State-of-the-art technologies • Market opportunities: • Wastewater Treatment • Cost savings • Agreement of a Demonstration Project

  3. Meeting of the Prime Ministers September 2009 • Access to CO2 reducing technology • Cooperation in the areas of environment • Involvement of The Danish Ministry of Environment

  4. Demand For Better Water Quality Motivation for The Demonstration Project for Danish Companies is to upgrade existing plants with new technology that ensure: • Energy Optimization • Improvement of Treatment Process: • Optimization of The Discharge Profile • Reduction of Bacteria Levels • Reduction of Pollution • Increased capacity • Staff Training

  5. Signing of MOU 22. November 2010 For the collaboration between Delhi Jal Board and Danish Water Forum for the demonstration project: “The Coronation Pillar Sewage Treatment plant (Phase III–10MGD)”

  6. Danish Water Forum(DWF) was established 2003 Umbrella-organization consisting of companies and organizations with different approaches to the market. Water Knowledge Network Global achievements in UN-water policies and Water Resource management.

  7. Partners of the pilot project “The Coronation Pillar Sewage Treatment plant (Phase III–10MGD)”

  8. Fruits on the ground: Where is the biggest fruits? Electricity consumption for waste water treatment plant (activated sludge) Comparison of investment share vs. energy consumption share In the secondary treatment phase waste water is treated by means of bacterial breakdown of the dissolved biological waste. In order to foster this bacterial break-down, the oxygen level of the water needs to be correct, not to high nor to low. Aeration is the process by which the area of contact between water and air is increased, either by natural or mechanical means, resulting in air being suspended in water. 2 3 1 ~3% ~54% Source: Water Environment Federation Energy Conservation Task Force. Energy Conservation in Wastewater Treatment Facilities. 1997 Investment share Aeration blower of total plant Electricity consumption share of total plant Scope of evaluation without distribution pumping stations

  9. Treatment Plant The Coronation Pillar Sewage Treatment plant (Phase III – 10 MGD)

  10. Main objectives with the upgrade Upgrade the facility without civil changes, and optimization of the facility by adding: • Energy Efficient Pumps • Aeration Systems • Sensors and Controlling Hardware • Data-Collection System • Chemical/Biological Optimization Analysis • Capacity-Building (Training of the staff)
