  5. Role • Unique expertise pole regrouping the main specialized industries • Member of the Consulting Board for Health Insurance Reform • Has leveraged the new initiative from both ministries of Health and Industry to support specifically the IT health industry • Promotes the interoperability between Health IS, based on International standards • Maintains closed relationship with health IT users and patient associations COCIR / HINE

  6. Activities • Strategic survey for members (regulations…) • Regular lunch-meeting with key actors • Partnership with similar organization (SNITEM…) • Lobbying initiatives (government, health insurances…) • Publication of Position Papers and Press Releases (Interoperability, DMP, HIS…) COCIR / HINE

  9. Europe Perspectives • National market is too small for level of investment required by EHRs • But such EHRs have to fulfill the local needs and integrate to legacy systems as well as complies with local regulations • Joint effort with other European industries can consolidate local industry COCIR / HINE

  10. Seeking for European Partners • federating => Health IT specialized industry, sharing the same interest • associating => Health IT users (inc. patients and payers) sharing same objectives • “balancing” => Big IT industry players • “negotiating” => European Commission and (National) Healthcare Authorities COCIR / HINE

  11. Why Do Something? • Healthcare IT has a major future • Health is increasingly driving the economy (US…) • Healthcare organization (hospital => home) • Physicians specialization => communication • Increasing role of the patient/consumer • The market is no longer Local (investment) • High risk of specialized industry collapse • Need for leveraging existing knowledge in more powerful products (and market) COCIR / HINE
