User Name: Up to 20 characters (letters and/or numbers) Lost user name start over! • Password: • 6-8 characters (MUST have letters AND numbers) • E-mail required: • Make sure e-mail filters allow UC mail through! • Hint: • Create one that is memorable but not easy for others to guess! Step 1: Personal Information (part 1 of 2) Choose Applicant Level • Also in this section: • Full legal name • Social Security Number • Place / date of birth • Address
Step 2: Campus Choices Select a campus, then click “Go!” • Check campus “Alternate Major” requirements • Choose major/alternate and “save”

Step 3: Family Data Although many questions in the Family Data section are voluntary, EOP applicants and students requesting fee waivers will need to answer sections indicated by blue text
Step 4: Academic History (part 1 of 4) You MUST list the high school you graduated from and EVERY college you’ve attended, regardless of how long you attended
Step 4: Academic History (part 1 of 4) Once you’ve entered your school details, click “save school.” Main page will refresh to show entry

Step 4: Academic History (part 3 of 4) Enter departmentand course number EXACTLY as theyappear on transcript (omit leading zeros) Select term to start entering courses and click “go!”
Step 4: Academic History For CCC courses only, “CCCT” designation appears next to those matched to UC-approved courses in ASSIST
Step 4: Academic History (part 4 of 4) Application displays message when requirement met by courses already entered; otherwise, answer question You MUST explain any time spent out of school before attending UC
Step 5: Test Results • Enter scores, dates of tests taken • Make sure scores are sent to UC campuses by reporting deadline
Step 6: Activities and Awards List activities and awardswithin the last four years
Step 7: The Personal Statement Focus: Academic Preparation Rationale: The University seeks to enroll students who take initiative in pursuing their education (for example, developing a special interest in science, language or the performing arts; involvement in educational preparation programs including summer enrichment programs, research, or academic development programs such as EAOP, MESA, Puente, COSMOS or other similar programs.) This question seeks to understand a student's motivation and dedication to learning. Question: What is your intended major? Discuss how your interest in the field developed and describe any experience you have had in the field – such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities – and what you have gained from your involvement. Focus: Potential to Contribute Rationale: UC welcomes the contributions each student brings to the campus learning community. This question seeks to determine an applicant's academic or creative interests, and potential to contribute to the vitality of the University. Question: Tell us about a talent, experience, contribution or personal quality you will bring to the University of California. Focus: Open-ended Rationale: This question seeks to give students the opportunity to share important aspects of their schooling or their lives, such as personal circumstances, family experiences and opportunities that were or were not available at their school or college, which may not have been sufficiently addressed elsewhere in the application. Question: Is there anything you would like us to know about you or your academic record that you have not had the opportunity to describe elsewhere in the application?
A word counter is included at the bottom of each section. It will CUT OFF any words past the count of 630!!!! Step 7: The Personal Statement (continued) • Compose essays in a word-processing program, then paste into application • 1,000-word limit • Times out after 40 minutes of inactivity

Step 8: Review and Submit Before starting submit process, carefully review your information on the summary page
