Matthew 7:24-29 “‘Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. Now everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man…”

  2. Matthew 7:24-29 “‘…who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.’ And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes” cf. Luke 6:46-49

  3. Matthew 7:24-29 • Everyone has to build a house. • Storms & streams beat against both houses. • The foundation is Christ.

  6. Building Faith on Christ II. How can we avoid these dangers? A. By building faith on Christ & no one else (Eph 2:19-22; Col 2:12). 1. The apostles (Matt 28:19,20; John 14:26; 16:13; Acts 2; I Cor 14:37; II Thess 3:14).

  8. Building Faith on Christ II. How can we avoid these dangers? B. By trusting in God’s word alone (II Timothy 3:14-17; 1:5). C. By committing our lives to Christ, no matter what! (II Cor 2:7-11; I Cor 5:1-8; Phil 3:12-15).

  9. Philippians 3:12-14 “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
