“So teach us…” • “So teach us…” = a conclusion; an application • Since God is eternal and man’s life is brief, we need to be taught something (v. 12) • Since God’s wrath will be upon the sins of man, we need to be taught something (v. 12; note that Moses witnessed the wrath of God firsthand throughout is life)
“To number our days…” • Their brief number (v. 10; 1 Chron. 29:15; Job 8:9; Jas. 4:12-14) • How many of them are already spent (Rom. 13:11; 2 Pet. 1:14) • How uncertain the number remains • How many of them are occupied with the necessary duties of life
“To number our days…” • What afflictions may accompany them (Job 1) • What effect sin may have on them (Heb. 12;17) • How they appear in the light of eternity (Lk. 16:19-26) • How we might use them for the Lord (Lk. 1:75)
