1920s Better known as “The Roaring Twenties” because it was a time of economic prosperity where culture, music, motion pictures, trendy fashions and arts started to become about. AKA the “Jazz Age” Jazz music was the most popular form of music in this period.
Dance clubs held the most activity in the 1920s. Majority of the population enjoyed expressing through dancing.
POPULAR DANCES Most popular dances were performed with partners. • The Charleston • The Quickstep • The Shimmy
FASHION • Fashion for women changed in the 1920s due to the broadcasting of fashion in movies and magazines. They were called flappers.
Flappers listened to jazz, wore their hair in short bobs and skimpy corset dresses.

THE HARLEM RENAISSANCE After the war, African- Americans started looking for more employment in other areas…
This brought them to bring their music and culture w/ them. This became known as The Harlem Renaissance
ART DECO This era encouraged people to become more expressive. Outstanding architectures and designs were constructed.
CINEMA Films were soon upgraded with color and sound effects. Cartoons became popular in movie theatres.
LITERARY Creativity lead to the makings of great literary books and poems.
Radios & TV programming became popular towards everyone especially middle class people.
