Participation with Other Professional Societies • National Organization of Test, Research, and Training Reactors (TRTR) - representing nearly 50 research reactors from government, industry, and universities throughout the U.S. and worldwide. • At least one session at each national meeting is devoted to research reactors and is sponsored or co-sponsored by IRD. • Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) – promotes best approaches and procedures for implementing all aspects of nuclear materials management • Participation at Safeguards Topical Conf.

  11. Society Leadership • Exec. Comm. has > 50% participation at national meetings (required for quorum) • Some participation in PDC efforts • Full participation in NPC efforts

  12. Non-Meeting Publications • The IRD does not actively stimulate contributions to non-meeting publications, however, members do contribute papers to the technical journals. • IRD Chair contributed to the special committee forthcoming position paper on isotope assurance

  13. Professional Development • IRD has not supported any professional development workshops or activities

  14. Scholarships JAMES R. VOGT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP • Established in 1986 to recognize outstanding students at U.S. Universities and colleges entering the field of Radioanalytical Chemistry and its applications. • Students must be engaged or proposing to undertake graduate or undergraduate research in Radioanalytical Chemistry or its applications. • $2500 award • Currently funded at $28K, IRD Exec. Comm. has voted to devote future topical meetings income towards endowing the scholarship. • BMD is a co-sponsor.

  15. Peer Awards • Radiation Science & Technology Award • recognizes outstanding creative applications of radiation sciences and engineering principles • $2000 award, currently funded at $37K • Mishima Award • recognizes outstanding contributions in research and development work on nuclear fuels and materials. • IRD co-sponsors this award with the Materials Science and Technology Division
