What Did the Inspectors Say? • The senior phase is a key strength of the curriculum, providing a broad range of suitable courses to flexibly meet the diverse range of young people’s needs. • The school has considered the local economy in developing aspects of the curriculum which has led to the campus approach to the curriculum involving a range of partners to deliver in the senior phase. • The senior phase S4-S6 is designed to provide a wide range of flexible provision to meet the needs of young people. The school is adept at providing bespoke curricula to meet specific needs. This is planned around the needs of young people with a clear goal of ensuring a sustained positive destination.

The Curriculum –BGE Junior Phase • Mixture of setting and mixed ability • Full range of curricular areas and specialising from S3 in these areas • Skills for Learning , Life and Work Framework – Profiles, Electives, John Muir Award, Youth Philanthropy Initiative and Dynamic Youth Award. • Skills messages across the school and in planners – Learning Intentions and Success Criteria

  9. SENIOR PHASE - S4 • S4 Study 7 subjects • Degree of restriction –not a free for all • No subject has collapsed • Trying to have alternatives in most columns –Duke of Edinburgh, Princes Trust Xlerate and College programme

Senior Phase - S5/6 • Academic Pathway • Supported by a range of mentoring, widening access initiatives –Focus West, SCETT, REACH, Caledonian University mentors , expanding mentor programme with Strathclyde, visits to universities and courses • Partners – Celtic Foundation • PSE classes - targeted support UCAS/Top Up and Routes for All • Caledonian University Advanced Higher Hub • Good neighbours

SENIOR PHASE – S5/6 • Vocational Pathway –Lots of Partnerships and Campus model • College links with Glasgow Kelvin/City of Glasgow • Glasgow’s Employability Team/Widening Achievement Awards – Employability courses (Heart Start, PX2), Culinary Excellence programme, Duke of Edinburgh, XLerate • Sports Leadership, Certificate in Housing (GHA), Engineering Scholarships, John Lewis Partnership • Travel and Tourism, Woodwork, Hospitality, Creative Cakes, Personal Finance and looking at SQA Awards • Bespoke work experience – week and individual • SQA Leadership Award programme – Personal Statements

PT World of Work • Key strategic role in school – Part of integrated Pupil Support team –Dedicated role around World of Work • From S3 profile our young people – careers/interests/pathways/subjects/performance • 16+ More Choices More Chances – At risk young people • Close links with SDS • Links with all partners – Builds relationship • Takes young people to all job fairs/coordinates practical necessities • Diplomatic team with parents • Always looking for opportunities – sustainable ones??? Take a chance…
