BACKGROUND • Guarantees: - The infrastructure of the South African National Health system with regard to availability of a comprehensive health and medical services on a 24 hours basis will be put at the disposal of 2010 FIFA World Cup - Upgrading of the current health infrastructure - Accreditation of foreign medical professionals to practice on their players and other relevant members of the delegations - There will be no restrictions on the marketing, distributing (including import and export) serving, consuming and advertising of alcoholic beverages.
AREAS OF FOCUS In delivering the guarantees the department focused in the following areas of service provision: • Emergency medical services • Hospital services • Port health • Communications • Environmental health services (including food and water safety) • Communicable disease control and Surveillance • Forensic Pathology and Forensic Medicine • Health Promotion • Command and Control • Facilitate accreditation of foreign medical contingents

Challenges & Recommendations Challenges Mitigation steps Special relaxation of regulations for EMS to use carts etc within the vicinity of the stadia precinct. Relax municipal /provincial boundaries to facilitated cooperation and effective use of EMS resources. Facilitate easy interprovincial transfer of patients. • Use of Golf Carts and Quad Bikes on stadia /fan park demarcated roads . • Cooperation between Provinces and municipalities
