  1. 5 Tips for Finding a Precision Injection Molding Partner International sourcing processes for precision injection molding can be complex as policies and processes of two supplier companies can vary wildly. When in the market for injection molded parts, you want to qualify your potential suppliers before sharing any confidential information, product design, and things of the like with them. Requesting quotations from multiple suppliers is a good practice so you can compare your options thoroughly. Here are some useful tips to follow when sourcing a precision injection molding partner:  Use Google searches to help you create a pro and con list for each supplier that you think you may want to do business with. What are their stated capabilities, machinery, capacity…  Initiate contact with your shortlisted suppliers. Get them on the phone or through any other online means. Ask plenty of questions related to the job you have in store. This is also a good way to test the waters when it comes to communicating with your potential offshore supplier. You don’t want to engage in a technical production project with a provider that communicates in English poorly.  Get a non-disclosure agreement in place before sending out an RFQ.  Ask for a detailed quotation that includes information like what tool steel will be used, its hardness, and how many shots it can take. When requesting molded parts, ask for details like material, weight, and number of cavities. Get as much detail as possible in the quote. Don’t expect that the industry standards for quotes or production apply to your offshore supplier. Qualify everything.  Compare quotations and proposals from the different providers you’ve engaged to see which offer best suits your needs. Visit suppliers to verify information when possible. If you can’t travel due to an event like a pandemic it is very important to be extra choosy in the partners you want to work with. When making a final decision, choose the supplier that offers the most competitive pricing, has excellent communication, and has presented good customer references as proof of their service quality.
