10. 10 Why do we needInformation Governance? Successful partnership working depends on effective communication, but the information exchanges need to be managed because…
…we are expected to share information - but we also have to protect people’s privacy, uphold their rights, prevent data misuse, and remain within the law
We need to ensure our staff are supported and clear about their responsibilities and boundaries
We need to ensure the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of the information we produce or receive
11. 11 What are the benefits of sharing information? Proactive and preventative intervention is enabled –
We all know that after a major event we all start saying this
wouldn’t have happened if we shared information to we
need to be proactive ie
The ‘NEET’ strategy - Not in Education, Employment or Training
16 – 18 kids that just fool through the net one or more of us may
know of them but not one single agency holds all the keys to
reducing NEET, Local Authorities, schools, learning skills council,
youth support services and employers all have a key role to play.

12. 12 So what might prevent it? We all have govt guidance to content with which over lap and in some
cases contradict each other
Different nature of orgs and info – schools hold information on nearly
every child in education but social services hold very sensitive
information on CP cases on a very few children
Rules of engagement not clarified – the possible need for
information sharing protocols
Incompatible equip – TRP – Mental Health - We all have govt guidance to content with which over lap and in some
