Experience • We have a combined experience of 16 years working with adolescents. • Undergraduate education: Cal State Dominguez and Occidental College • Masters in Technology Based Education and Methods Education
Science • All curriculum is aligned with the California state standards which can be found in the front of the textbook “Life Science” and are also aligned with “Language Arts” standards. • Topics covered include: Light, Cells, Plants, and Genetics • Projects: Egg experiment, Science Fair Project, Genetics Lab, Plant Growth Lab
English • All curriculum is aligned with the California state standards which can be found in the front of the textbook “Language Arts”. • Three novels in focus: “House on Mango Street”, “Holes”, and “Where the Red Fern Grows” • Projects: Technology based literacy curriculum i.e. digital comic strips, digitized autobiographies.
Materials • Student agenda • Red pen, black pen, pencil • 3x5 index cards • 3 subject Science notebook • Poster boards • Flash drive • Colored pencils, crayons • Paper • Reading Log • Reading novel
Homework • Recorded in agenda daily • Mon-Thurs. written homework • Friday-projects, studying (vocabulary study cards) • NO LATE assignments • Students must make up work when absent • 30 minutes of homework and/or studying daily
Grades • Progress reports are issued every 5 weeks • All class assignments are given a number value • Cooperation and work habits are based on student participation, behavior, the ability to follow directions, and having all supplies daily • 90-100=A, • 80-89=B, • 70-79=C, • 60-69=D, • 50 and below = Fail
