Project Summary • Our 7 person team was responsible for creating videos that promote IT at FSU. • The videos cover three topics: • What can IT do for me? • Information Technology vs. Computer Science (CS) • Information Technology vs. Management Information Systems (MIS) • Videos are placed on YouTube so that everyone can watch them.
Deliverable • Video 1: What can IT do for me? • A short, but thorough analysis of how IT helps employees in the workplace. • All material was recorded and edited. • Video 2: IT vs. CS • A video that shows some of the differences between IT and CS for prospective students. • All material was recorded and edited. • Video 3: IT vs. MIS • A video that shows some of the differences between IT and MIS for prospective students. • All material was recorded and edited.
Original Timeline • July 8th - Video 1 finalization. • July 8-12 - Finish the remainder of Video 2's recording • July 13th - Begin editing Video 2. • July 17th - Video 2 finalization. • July 18th+ - Video promotion via Facebook groups, Twitter, etc. Both videos will be on YouTube by this date. • Upcoming: Final presentation
Timeline Changes • Some of the interviewees had scheduling conflicts, so filming was delayed. • The rest of the team was helpful in finding interviewees, recording, and attending meetings. Editing, however, is a major bottleneck. • We did NOT want to rush the videos and make a compromise in quality. • Late question submissions. • Video submission dates were also postponed for supplementary footage (ie. Intros) • All video submission dates were changed to the 26th of July.
Leadership • Meetings on Fridays • Assigning tasks to group members • Communicating with the group via texts, Skype, Facebook, etc. • Ensured that multiple lines of communication were open to group members. • Group member input encouraged
Teamwork • Four members (JD, Maria, Ciara, and Troy) were tasked with finding material/content/interviewees for the videos. • Four members (Steve, Julian, JD, and Andrew) were tasked with recording videos. • Two members (Julianand Steve) were tasked with editing the videos. • One member (Steve) was tasked with uploading the videos to YouTube, optimizing their keywords, etc. • Everyone will take part in promoting the videos through social media. • One member (Andrew) was tasked with creating presentation materials.
Long Term Planning • Adequate information is available on the wiki. Videos will be posted, sample questions are posted, contact information is posted, and some (not all) of the meeting minutes are available. • Deadlines/revised deadlines are available so that groups can get an idea as to how they should plan their timeline. • The wiki is detailed enough for future projects.
Equity • The workload was (mostly) even. • Everyone did what was asked of them. • The issues surrounding our deadlines are the result of interview cancellations/delays and editing.
