Howard Gardner suggests there are seven ways people perceive and understand the world. • Each of these ways is labeled “intelligences”.
Intelligences • Verbal / Linguistic • Logical / Mathematical • Visual / Spatial • Body / Kinesthetic • Musical / Rhythmic • Interpersonal • Intrapersonal
Why? • It takes all kinds. • Variety is the spice of life. • It’s good to eat the bear.
The Bear DO: • Provide several learning options or different paths to learning • Provide appropriate levels of challenge for all students DO NOT: • Develop a separate lesson plan for each student • “Water down” the curriculum for some students
