  2. Red Ribbon Express (RRE) • RRE project conceptualized by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, is being implemented by NACO as a multi-sectoral project to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS and promote safe behavioral practices.

  3. Coverage It is a National Campaign to mainstream the issue of HIV/AIDS through a train. Looking at the grand success of the Red Ribbon Express Campaign, NACO is planning to launch the third phase of the project across the country. During its third voyage, RRE shall transverse through 163 stations. In Rajasthan, RRE is scheduled to visit 5 stations.

Objectives of RRE The project with primarily focus on rural areas aimed at: • Dissemination of information regarding primary prevention services; • Developing an understanding about the disease to reduce stigma & discrimination against People Living with HIV/AIDS ; • Strengthening people’s knowledge about the measures to be taken to prevent getting HIV/AIDS; and • Adopting preventive health habits and lifestyle.

RRE Target Group General population with special focus on youth groups, women, self help group members, adolescents/student community from school & college, PRI members and out of school youth in the community. Optimizing on the theme of the National Youth Day. This time the renewed focus of the RRE project will be on youth. Special efforts are required to mobilize the adolescents & youth

  12. Platform activities under RRE Welcome function at Platform Folk troupe performances at Platform till the stay of RRE . Various exhibitions on Platform (Condom Promotion, RCH etc.)

Inter-sectoral collaboration • Education : Direction for participation of secondary, senior secondary & college students. • PRI : Participation of Block level Officials/Sarpanch/Panch in RRE activities (Training , To support the management platform activities & Facilitate Bus caravan during village tour). • District Youth coordinator (NYK) support for crowd mobilization (Youths ) • Women & Child Department: To ensure the participation of the front line functionaries( AWW, SAHAYOGINI) including lady supervisors, CDPO & Deputy Directors in encouraging common man to visit the Red Ribbon Express and gain knowledge about the HIV/AIDS, • Need to support from GRPF, RPF & Police department regarding maintain law and order. • AIR & DD : News Coverage of the campaign • DFP : Awareness about train during their performances • Medical & Health including NRHM : Overall coordination with RRE programme during the District visit. ( Deputing ASHA Coordinator, ASHA, Districts IEC Coordinator, MO, Planning & execution of mid media troupes (IEC Buses campaign) & paramedical staff for screening of swine flu, Active Participation in all stages)
